An uneventful week...

It has taken a long time to write this as we have had a pretty uneventful week and a half...

When we set off for Canada I did sort of promise Wissy that the weather would be nice, after all we were about to enter spring and what's the worst that could happen... Well how about a full day of snow after some -11 temperature, eventually putting down 6 inches of the white stuff when we were supposed to get 2...

After this I did fear that Wiss would never leave the Condo but on the Friday the promise of fine food, friends and mojito had us both heading WAAAYYYYY further north than we normally go (we don't normally venture north of Lakeshore darling). An evening of great cooking - the Lakey effect - poorly made Mojitos - me - and fine chat ensued.

Post this and after watching Blade Runner we rather crazily decided to work our way through the 11.5 hours of the Lord of the Rings extended editions... now it was suddenly Sunday morning and the movie marathon was in full swing ending with Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Manchurian Candidate and finally Enemy of the State after this bed and sleep...

Now we have just returned from another movie, Sucker Punch, we went to the Rainbow Cinema just north of work for the $5 Tuesday special - a total bargin, thats about £3 for all you English and the cinema has better sound and is much cleaner than the Richmond Odeon! For 5 bucks any movie is worth watching, of course - and this is Wissys quote and not mine - old man Manga with bits of Lord of the Rings, Kill Bill, Memphis Belle and I-Robot has got to be worth an hour or two of your time...

Signing off now, we are going to the Sky Dome at the weekend to see the Toronto Blue Jays - yes its opening weekend at the baseball and I am very excited!

One week in Toronto

Wow, the past two weeks has been a real rollercoaster ride. From decision to take off was one week, now a week later I finally have time to look back at what has happened.

I can truly thank Wissys ex boss, having Wissy here has already been fun.

Our first full day, my first day in the office, of course ended with a couple of quiet beers, these were followed with some rowdier beers and drinking the bar dry of Cafe Patron.

Work has been full on but nowhere near the hours I was working before, and having a house wife to prepare my lunch, cook supper and rest while the cleaner is here has been fantastic, once she is fully rested we will really start looking for work (Wissy - not the cleaner) but for now I think it is better for her to be chilling and looking after me!

Our first weekend started slowly, mostly because Friday evening was full of making new friends and Wissy become best buds with some of my old Toronto friends, next Tuesday she will be getting a full tour of Toronto with Megan the barmaid.

Anyway - I have to go rest as I am cooking for a colleague and shopping at the Magic Pony can be so very tiring!

Countdown

The countdown has begun, 8 days to go, the list of things we have to complete is daunting but friends and family are stepping up and it is looking like we will disappear off to Toronto. Luckily we won't be around to see the car crash TV that will be OMG with Peaches Geldof.
